   Adjustable Dampener
 
     Dampener can be field modified or tuned to accommodate differing pressure ranges and response rates.
 
   Automatic Dampener
 
     A valve located in the non-wetted section of the dampener allows for an increase in compressed air pressure to balance an increase in system liquid pressure. As liquid system pressure increases a contact opens the valve and allows compressed air to enter the dampener.
 
   Chargeable Dampener
 
     The chamber within the dampener is charged with compressed air or nitrogen gas to create a cushion to absorb pressure pulses within the system.
 
   Liquid Filled Dampener
 
     Fluid within the cavity is used to smooth the system.
 
   Suction Lift Dampener
 
     A suction lift or stabilizer is mounted on the inlet side of a pump to reduce acceleration head and ensure that the pump is feed evenly.
 
   Pressure Snubber
 
     Pressure snubbers are devices located before a pressure gauge to guard the gauge against pulsations in the measured media.

   AFLAS®
 
     AFLAS® is the trade name for a unique fluoroelastomer based upon an alternating copolymer of tetrafluoroethylene and propylene ("TFE/P"). The elastomer, when properly formulated, can be used to fabricate o-rings, gaskets, seals, packings, and coatings possessing several unique properties. AFLAS seals offer outstanding resistance to chemicals and steam. AFLAS® is a registered trademark of the Asahi Glass Co., Ltd.
 
   Buna-N
 
     Good resistance to petroleum hydrocarbons and fuels. Widely used with most oils, hydraulic fluids, and alcohol. Many compound variations are available for specific applications. Suggested operating temperature (-30° to 275° F). Trade names include Breon® (BP Chemicals), Chemigum® (Goodyear), Hycar® (B F Goodrich), Krynac® (Polysar Ltd.), Nipol® (Zeon Chemicals), Nysyn® NBR, (DSM Elastomers), Paracril® (Uniroyal Chemical), and Perbunan® (Mobay).
 
   EPDM
 
     Ethylene propylene (EPDM) offers good resistance to sunlight, weathering and ozone. It has poor resistance to petroleum oils and fuel. Good heat and compression set resistance. Suggested operating temperature (-70° to 275° F). Trade names include Nordel® (Dupont Dow Elastomers), Vistalon® (Exxon Mobil Chemical), Epsyn® (DSM Elastomers), Royalene® (Uniroyal Chemical), and Epcar® (B.F. Goodrich).
 
   Hypalon® (CSM)
 
     Chlorosulfonated polyethylene (CSM) provides excellent ozone, oxidation, sunlight (color degradation), and weather resistance. They are also capable of providing resistance to alkalis and acids. Suggested operating temperature (-60° to 300° F). Hypalon® is a registered trademark of DuPont Dow Elastomers.
 
   Neoprene
 
     A synthetic rubber that resists degradation from sun, ozone, and weather. It performs well in contact with oils and many chemicals. Neoprene remains useful over a wide temperature range, displays outstanding physical toughness, and resists burning inherently better than exclusively hydrocarbon rubbers. Neoprene also offers resistance to damage caused by flexing and twisting. Suggested operating temperature (-45° to 230° F). DuPont Dow originally engineered neoprene.
 
   PVC
 
     Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is a widely used material that has good flexibility, smooth surface, and nontoxic qualities. Some grades are used in food and chemical processes due to the inert nature of PVC. Brand names include: ACP® and Dural® (Alpha Gary), Geon® (Geon), Benvic® (Solvay), Flexalloy® (Teknor Apex).
 
   PTFE
 
     Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) is an insoluble compound that exhibits a high degree of chemical resistance and a low coefficient of friction. It is sometimes marketed in proprietary classes of materials such as Teflon®, a registered trademark of DuPont Dow Elastomers.
 
   Santoprene®
 
     Santoprene® thermoplastic rubber is a series of high-performance elastomers that combine the characteristics of vulcanized rubber, such as flexibility and low compression set, with the processing ease of thermoplastics. Santoprene provides oil and heat resistance. Santoprene is a registered trademark of Advanced Elastomer Systems.
 
   Silicone
 
     Silicones are polymers in which organics groups, such as methyl and phenyl groups are bonded to the silicone atoms in chains of inorganic siloxanes (-Si-O-Si-). Their properties include heat, cold and weather resistance, electrical insulation, release, water repellency and defoaming.
 
   Viton®
 
     A range of fluoropolymer elastomers whose formulation can be tailored to a reasonable extent to meet the needs of individual end-uses. They are normally black and have high heat, oil and chemical resistance but indifferent low temperature performance. With the exception of Kalrez® (Dow DuPont Elastomers) perfluorinated elastomer, they are about the most highly temperature resistant of all commercially available elastomers. Viton® is a registered trademark of DuPont Dow Elastomers.

   Acetal
 
     Acetal polymers are semi-crystalline. They offer excellent inherent lubricity, fatigue resistance, and chemical resistance. Acetals suffer from outgassing problems at elevated temperatures, and are brittle at low temperatures. Glass filled, and added lubrication grades are available, flame-retardant grades are not. Brand names include Celcon® (Hoechst Celanese), Delrin® (Dupont), Thermocomp® (LNP), Ultraform® (BASF), and Acetron® (DSM).
 
   Aluminum
 
     A bluish silver-white malleable ductile light trivalent metallic element that has good electrical and thermal conductivity, high reflectivity, and resistance to oxidation.
 
   Brass
 
     Brass comes with good strength, excellent high temperature ductility and reasonable cold ductility, good conductivity, excellent corrosion resistance, good bearing properties and low magnetic permeability.
 
   Cast Iron
 
     The term "cast iron" refers not to a single material, but to a family of materials whose major constituent is iron, with important trace amounts of carbon and silicon. Cast irons are natural composite materials whose properties are determined by their microstructures - the stable and metastable phases formed during solidification or subsequent heat treatment. The major microstructural constituents of cast irons are: the chemical and morphological forms taken by carbon, and the continuous metal matrix in which the carbon and/or carbide are dispersed.
 
   Carbon Steel
 
     A commercial iron that contains carbon in any amount up to about 1.7 percent as an essential alloying constituent. It is malleable when under suitable conditions, and is distinguished from cast iron by its malleability and lower carbon content.
 
   Hastelloy®
 
     The attributes of Hastelloy® alloys include high resistance to uniform attack and localized corrosion resistance. It also provides stress corrosion cracking resistance, and ease of welding and fabrication. Hastelloy is a registered trademark of Haynes International, Inc.
 
   Inconel®
 
     A nickel-chromium alloy with good oxidation resistance at high temperatures and resistance to chloride-ion stress-corrosion cracking, corrosion by high-purity water, and caustic corrosion. Inconel® is a registered trademark of Special Metals Corporation.
 
   PVDF
 
     Polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) is a melt processable fluoropolymer. It is similar in properties to other fluoropolymer, but has better strength and lower creep than the other members of this family. PVDF has good wear resistance, and excellent chemical resistance. But does not perform well at elevated temperatures. Brand names include: Kynar® (Elf AtoChem).
 
   PTFE

   Stainless Steel
 
     Stainless steel is chemical and corrosion resistant and can have relatively high-pressure ratings.
