   Locking

   DIN Rail Mounted
 
     Devices mount on a standard DIN rail. DIN is an acronym for Deutsches Institut für Normung (DIN), a German national organization for standardization.
 
   Panel Mounted
 
     Devices fit a depression within a panel so that they are flush or nearly flush with the panel. Typically, these devices are used in applications that require connectors to fit panel cutouts. 
 
   Flush Mounted
 
     Devices are installed flush with the surface of a panel or piece of equipment.
 
   Wall / Box Mounted
 
     Devices are threaded for an accessory (backshell) and intended for permanent mounting. They are usually flanged.
 
   Flange Mounted
 
     Devices are equipped with integral flanges for mounting with external hardware such as screws, bolts, or rails. They attach by bolting the flange or riveting it in place through holes in the flange surface. Flange mounted plugs are called flange inlets. Flange mounted receptacles are called flanged outlets.
 
   PCB Mounted
 
     Through hole technology (THT) mounts components on a printed circuit board (PCB) by inserting component leads through holes in the board and then soldering the leads in place on the opposite side of the board.

Surface mount technology (SMT) adds components to a printed circuit board (PCB) by soldering component leads or terminals to the top surface of the board. SMT components have a flat surface that is soldered to a flat pad on the face of the PCB. Typically, the PCB pad is coated with a paste-like formulation of solder and flux. With careful placement, SMT components on solder paste remain in position until elevated temperatures, usually from an infrared oven, melt the paste and solder the component leads to the PCB pads.

Grounding




          Proper grounding provides a safe path for electricity to move from a defective outlet, fixture, appliance or tool back into the earth, which is a very good electrical conductor.

   Isolated Ground
 
     Devices use a ground path that is isolated from the facility's grounding system. Isolated ground circuits increase the resistance of sensitive electronics to surges. They also provide a clear grounding path to the service panel and help reduce electromagnetic noise that can interfere with equipment operation. With receptacles, the grounding connection is isolated from the mounting strap.
 
   Self Grounding
 
     Self-grounding devices establish a connection to an existing grounding path such as a metal wiring device or metal conduit, gas or water piping, or ducting or structural steel.
 
   GFCI
 
     Ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) receptacles include a build-in circuit that detects leakage current to ground on the load side of the device. When leakage current is detected, GFCI interrupts power and prevents hazardous ground fault conditions. GFCI devices conform to UL Standard 943 Class A requirements. National Electric Code NFPA-70 requires their use in a variety or indoor and outdoor locations.

CSA Mark

 
     The CSA Mark may appear alone or with indicators. If it appears alone, it means that the product is certified for the Canadian market, to the applicable Canadian standards. If this Mark appears with the indicator "C and US" or "NRTL/C" it means that the product is certified for both the U.S. and Canadian markets, to the applicable U.S. and Canadian standards.
 
   NEMA
 
     Devices follow NEMA configuration standards. The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) sets safety standards for electrical cabling and connectors.
 
   ANSI
 
     The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) is a private, non-profit organization (501(c)3) that administers and coordinates the U.S. voluntary standardization and conformity assessment system. The Institute's mission is to enhance both the global competitiveness of U.S. business and the U.S. quality of life by promoting and facilitating voluntary consensus standards and conformity assessment systems, and safeguarding their integrity.
 
   NOM
 
     NOM standards are the official Mexican product safety requirements.  Electrical, electronic, medical, wireless and telecom products sold in Mexico must be tested to the national, mandatory NOM standards by an accredited Mexican laboratory. Testing may be conducted by a laboratory outside of Mexico if it has a laboratory-to-laboratory mutual recognition agreement with an accredited Mexican laboratory or by an accredited lab in a country free-trade agreement with Mexico.
 
   VDE Component Mark
