Frequency counters are digital indicating meters for accurate measurement and display of square wave and pulse input signals. Digital frequency meters are controlled by a crystal so the calibration is not required. A digital frequency meter is powered by the 9V alkaline battery and provides a display of 4 digit accuracy. Pulse counters mainly consist of a pulse source, which is an electrical device that counts, stores that prepares the result, and a converter that converts electrical state and provide optical display. Frequency counters use a pulse counter to count edges on each channel up to four billion.
