Inductotherm Equip. Gives You the Competitive Edge

Inductotherm Equip. Gives You the Competitive Edge

Inductotherm has supplied equipment to Graham-White for their bronze and iron foundry operations since the 1970's. Today we provide them with products that give Graham-White the competitive edge in their industry. They recently installed new Inductotherm equipment in order to maintain their position as a leader in their industry.

For over 30 years, Graham-White Manufacturing Company has been building rail and specialty vehicle products for a global market. Their Salem, Virginia casting facility specializes in the design, casting, and re-manufacturing of a variety of products, including electronics, brakes, and safety devices for the heavy rail and rail transit industries. They use Inductotherm furnaces for all their melting needs.

For their bronze operation, Inductotherm supplied a 200 kW VIP®-I™ with a 500 lb. hydraulic tilt Dura-Line® furnace to replace their Inductotherm VIP 400 (125/140 kW) Mark IV unit. We also upgraded their iron operation by replacing the 350 kW Power-Trak® and one-ton box furnace with a new 600 kW VIP-I with a one-ton hydraulic-tilt Dura-Line furnace and water pumping module.

The VIP-I is an IGBT-based induction power supply system featuring advanced IGBT power components, husky copper bus bars and precise, responsive digital controls with informative diagnostic functions. These VIP-I units are significantly smaller and more compact than earlier silicon controlled rectifier units in this size range, saving valuable floor space while delivering more production.

The Dura-Line is a coreless induction furnace designed for rugged use and high-power density melting. This mid-size furnace is constructed of heavy, cast refractory top and bottom sections with stainless steel reinforcement, providing a strong and rigid support system for the heavy-duty copper power coil and working lining. The hydraulic tilt provides smooth and precise pouring due to its special separate pivot axes.

Since this new equipment was installed, it has been running smoothly and efficiently. Both the bronze and iron operations continue to run successfully, giving Graham-White the expected outcome from the new installation and Inductotherm the satisfaction of another job well done.

Inductotherm Corp., an Inductotherm Group Company, is the world leader in induction technology with proven equipment for every melt shop need. Only Inductotherm can offer proven, efficient, reliable, and effective systems to give you the competitive edge you need in your industry.
