Hamamatsu Corporation has introduced the G8931-20, an InGaAs avalanche photodiode with a large, 0.2 mm diameter active area and high-speed response of 0.9 GHz. The device is suitable for applications such as distance measurement, spatial light transmission, low-light-level detection, and optical time-domain reflectometry (OTDR). Spectral response range is 0.9 to 1.7 microns, with peak photosensitivity of 0.9 A/W at 1.55 microns.
In addition to its large active area and high speed, the G8931-20 offers low breakdown voltage (between 40 V to 60 V), low capacitance (typically 1.5 pF), and low dark current (typically 150 nA).
Features:
- Active area: Ø0.2 mm
- Low voltage operation
- Low capacitence
- High sensitivity
- Low dark current
Applications:
- Distance measurement
- Spatial light transmission
- OTDR
- Low-light-level detection
