Hamamatsu UV Curing

Hamamatsu UV Curing

UV curing

UV curing is a photochemical process in which ultraviolet radiation is directed at free-flowing molecules and hardens them into solid polymer chains. Specifically, this involves the irradiation of certain types of adhesives and coatings that have been formulated with a photoinitiator, which is a catalyst that reacts instantaneously upon exposure to a required dose of light at particular wavelengths. Medical device manufacturing is one of several businesses that rely on UV curing. Here, it is used to bond and seal items such as hearing aids, disposable syringes, and catheters.

Light sources typically used for UV curing are high-pressure mercury xenon lamps, xenon lamps, and ultraviolet LEDs.
